A double-pole double-throw toggle switch acts like two separate SPDT switches connected to the same switch bat. It has two separate common terminals, each connected to one or the other of the other two terminals on the same side of the switch. It has a spring to bring it back to its normal position.
DPDT stands for double pole double through and acts as two separate SPDT switches connected in one switchboard. This switch is generally used to change the polarity of any robot or motor. This switch allows the motor to be moved in any direction.
